OCTOBER 21, 2017 DEVOTIONAL: GOSSIP
October 21, 2017 Devotional: Gossip
Why is gossip so harmful?
God's Response:
A gossip goes around telling secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence.
- Proverbs 11:13, NLT
A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.
- Proverbs 16:28, NLT
Rumors are dainty morsels that sink deep into one's heart.
- Proverbs 18:8, NLT
A gossip goes around telling secrets, so don't hang around with chatterers.
- Proverbs 20:19, NLT
Others may accuse you of gossip, and you will never regain your good reputation.
- Proverbs 25:10, NLT
God's Promise:
Fire goes out without wood, and quarrels disappear when gossip stops
- Proverbs 26:20, NLT
Reflection (made by the blogger herself):
According to the dictionary, Gossip means a casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true. This is a sin we must avoid. When I hear gossips, I keep it to myself or let it pass to another ear. The main reason I do this is because I don't want any war happening. Because it destroys a person's reputation or use his/her information without their permission. Worst case scenario is gossip really are half lies, half truths, suggestions and innuendos. Innuendo is an allusive or oblique remark or hint, typically a suggestive or disparaging one. It is through gossip that we take away a person's integrity which is something precious. It is considered theft in it's worst kind.
